A Promenade Workshop Performance of
La Fille a la Mode
Fri 26 Feb | 12:00pm 1:30pm & 3:00pm | Theatre Royal Haymarket
Conceived and created by Blayne George and Daphna Attias & Terry O’Donovan from dANTE OR dIE Theatre
Devised and created over four days through the collaborative efforts of 11 artists who share a common interest in challenging contemporary theatre practices, La Fille a la Mode is a site responsive piece of theatre inspired by the unique history and architecture of the Theatre Royal Haymarket and the title of the first production produced there in December 1720.
Performed in promenade, La Fille a la Mode is an intimately choreographed series of voyeuristic moments created in spaces not intended for performance and fuses together elements of dance, theatre, and installation performance. The work is a modern interpretation of the theatre’s first production, of which no text and little information survive, and is springboard for exploring the perception and continued celebration and exploitation of ‘the woman of fashion’.
La Fille a la Mode forms part of Masterclass: Festival 10, an ongoing series of mentorships, workshops, talks and creative opportunities for young people interested in exploring alternative ways of working in the theatre.
