Originally from the USA and is currently Chairman of the British Association of Lighting Designers.

Recent theatre includes: Star Quality (Apollo), Boston Marriage, New Ambassadors, Afore Night Come (Young Vic), Lear (Globe in Tokyo), Mother Clap’s Molly House ( NT and Aldwych), The Winter’s Tale, Albert Speer (RNT), Blue/Orange (Duchess Theatre), A Russian in the Woods (RSC), Far Away, My Zinc Bed (Royal Court), Napoloen (Shaftesbury), Disney’s Hunchback of Notre Dame (Berlin), Via Dolorosa (Royal Court and Broadway). Rick won an Olivier for Lady in the Dark and Chips with Everything (RNT), Moonlight (Almeida), and Hysteria (Royal Court), and a Tony award for An Inspector Calls on Broadway

Opera includes: La Vestale, ENO, Of Mice and Men (Washington), Egyptian Helen and Wozzeck (Santa Fe), Verdi Requiem, Triple Bill. Der Freischutz, Wozzeck (Florence), Flying Dutchman (Bordeaux), Traviata (Paris Opera), Gloriana, Medea and La Bohème (Opera North).

Dance includes: the award winning Swan Lake (London, Los Angeles and Broadway) and Cinderella (London and Los Angeles) for Adventures in Motion Pictures and Danses Concertantes (Boston Ballet).
