In 2026, Masterclass became part of the Get Into Theatre family, but we'd been opening doors to the theatre industry for decades before that. Founded in 1998 by Arnold Crook at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, to provide free training, career development opportunities and access to leading industry professionals, Masterclass has helped tens of thousands of emerging creatives take their first steps towards a career in theatre.

At the heart of our work are our renowned masterclasses, led by some of the most celebrated figures in theatre. Over the years, our speakers have reflected the breadth and talent of the industry, including Gillian Anderson, Alan Ayckbourn, Mike Bartlett, Michael Billington, Nica Burns, Jez Butterworth, Ryan Calais Cameron, Bradley Cooper, Richard Curtis, Danny DeVito, Idris Elba, James Graham, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Tom Hiddleston, Robert Icke, Angela Lansbury, Ewan McGregor, Elaine Paige, Alan Rickman and Bryan Cranston.

Alongside masterclasses, we deliver a free, year-round programme for 16–30 year olds, including creative workshops, script development opportunities, networking events and paid internships. Since 2007, we've facilitated 69* paid internships with organisations including Sonia Friedman Productions, Eleanor Lloyd Productions, Theatre Royal Haymarket and LW Theatres, helping young people gain invaluable experience and build lasting careers in the industry.

In 2003, we founded TheatreCraft, now the UK's largest off-stage theatre careers fair. Produced by Masterclass in association with SOLT UK Theatre and Royal Ballet and Opera, TheatreCraft introduces thousands of young people each year to the wide range of careers available across the theatre industry.

Now combined with Get Into Theatre's national digital platform for 12–25 year olds, we're creating joined-up support at every stage of a young person's journey—from classroom to career.
