Kate McGrath is a producer, Stage 100 winner, and the director of award-winning production company, Fuel. Following months of interviews with artists and producers across the theatre industry, Kate’s Masterclass sets out to:
- Demystify the role of the producer
- Discuss the relationship between theatre makers, producers, and venues
- Provide some top tips on how to foster these important collaborations
Kate will also talk about how Fuel, as a values led producing house, create big, ambitious, commercial projects whilst staying true to their voice and purpose. Whether you are a producer, or a self-producing artist, this is a Masterclass you will not want to miss!
Biography
Kate McGrath is Director and Chief Executive of Fuel, which she co-founded in 2004. Fuel leads the field in independent producing in the UK’s live performance sector, collaborating with curious, insightful and skilled theatre makers to create fresh experiences for adventurous people. Fuel’s work is socially and politically engaged in the world we live in, and in particular celebrates untold stories, under-represented artists and under-served audiences. Current Fuel projects include BLUE NOW with Neil Bartlett, Russell Tovey, Travis Alabanza, Joelle Taylor, Jay Bernard and Simon Fisher Turner; Hannah Lavery and Natalie Ibu’s Protest; and Common Wealth, Speakers Corner and Bradford Modified Club’s Peaceophobia. Kate was Curator for the Edinburgh International Festival’s programme of new socially and politically engaged theatre, dance and spoken word from 2019-2022. Kate is currently a trustee at Clore Leadership Programme, a board member at What Next?, and Co-Chair of Governor at Michael Faraday Primary School.
