In this Immersive Design workshop, Sean Turner will talk about his favourite design jobs to date, from Punchdrunk to Secret Cinema, and introduce theatremakers to SketchUp. SketchUp is a powerful tool used by designers to create 3D renders of their work. Delivered on zoom, you will be encouraged to work along on your laptop, as Sean provides top tips on how to get the most out of this free software.
This is a fantastic opportunity for set designers and anyone who collaborates with them – including directors, production managers and producers.
Biography
Sean is a designer and art director for theatre, film, and festivals. He trained at Motley, Covent Garden. From 2017-2019, he worked as in-house designer for MAMA Festivals & Live Nation, designing stages and areas for Wilderness, The Great Escape, and Lovebox festivals.
Recent design projects include: Guardians of the Galaxy and Ghostbusters: The Gates of Gozer with Secret Cinema; The Fame Factory with Done +Dusted in Saudi Arabia & Las Vegas; The Sound Affect and Alice’s Adventures Underground (Shanghai) with Les Enfants Terrible; The House Where Winter Lives with Punchdrunk Enrichment at Stratford Story Centre & Perth International Arts Festival; The Planets presented by Professor Brian Cox, streamed live on BBC Radio 3, aired on BBC 2, and performed at the Barbican; and Grumpy Old Women to The Rescue (UK Tour) – written by, and starring, Jenny Eclair.
Sean is currently designing Dopamine Land an immersive experience opening in Manchester in 2023.
